We believe that all our members have something to offer in the service of the others and encourage members serve in the church as they are able.
All staff and volunteers who serve in a formal way at church are required to undergo Safe Ministry Screening and training which varies according to role.

Guy Matthews
SENIOR MINISTER
Guy was appointed Rector in 2012. He has a passion for teaching the bible and is confident in the power of the gospel to transform lives. He is married to Sita. They have four adult children and three grandchildren. They enjoy participating together in ‘adventure sports’.
Sita Matthews
Pastoral Care Leader
Sita is married to Guy and works at the Good Shepherd in an honorary capacity. She believes women have a vital role for the health of church and family and has a passion for discipling women in Christian life. Sita loves cycling and spending time with Guy and grandchildren.
Ronaldo Sanchez
Associate Minister
Ronaldo grew up in Canberra. After recently serving at St John’s Anglican Cathedral in Parramatta he is ‘back home’ and joined the Good Shepherd ministry team in 2022. He is married to Meghan and they have three children, Rosita, Rafael and Xavier.
Ben Soderlund
Associate Minister
Ben grew up in the Dandenong Ranges. He is married to Rowan and they have a son, Abel. He wants to see the Australian Church flourishing in our post-Christian culture by helping people find the eternal joy of new life in Jesus Christ. He enjoys bushwalking, reading, and when he gets the time, has been known to play video games..
Seb Young
Verger
Seb works part-time overseeing the audio-visual side to our services. He also ensures the church building is fit for purpose and supports other staff in their ministries. Seb has grown up in Canberra and is now studying at ANU.
Sam Lee
Youth Minister
Sam has grown up in Canberra. He loves to serve in youth ministry, helping these young people to know, love and live for Jesus.
Mayra Escobedo
Administration Minister
Mayra grew up in Mexico. She loves visual arts, farms & cooking tacos. Mayra is married to Peter. She is excited to serve and communicate and connect with the lovely people of Good Shepherd. She loves the name of Good Shepherd because it is a great farming & natural reminder of the what the Gospel is about!
Cait Jones
MTS Apprentice
Cait is a ministry apprentice (MTS) at Good Shepherd Anglican Church for 2023 and 2024. Growing up in Sydney she attended and served in her local church and moved to Canberra in 2022. She is excited to serve the people of Good Shepherd as she is trained for a life of ministry. She loves a cup of tea, a good book and watching the cricket.
Alex Tu
MTS Apprentice
Alexander is a ministry apprentice (MTS) for Good Shepherd Deakin Anglican Church in 2024 & 2025. He grew up in Sydney and moved to Canberra (and Good Shepherd) in 2020 as a government lawyer. He quit his job to do MTS because he wants to see revival in Canberra. He is an aspiring writer, aspiring surfer, and aspires to full-time ministry in Canberra.
